The doctor is in...
Time for a new blog hop! This is the first of my projects made with the new soon-to-be-released Sizzix ScoreBoard dies, designed by Eileen Hull. I'll be posting projects cut from mat board every other Wednesday for the next few weeks, and here's a bonus: Vote for your favorite project (Trust me: All are amazing!) on Eileen's blog and leave a comment on any participating designer's blog and you could be a winner!
The ScoreBoard die used in the project will be given to the designer whose project gets the most votes, and one viewer who leaves a comment will receive a ScoreBoard die from the first Sizzix ScordBoard collection. To qualify to win, you must write a comment on any of the participating designers' sites. Voting ends the Monday following the Wednesday hop at 6 PM.
Our die for this week is the Sizzix ScoreBoard Scalloped Box and the theme is office supplies. I don't know about you, but a first-aid kit is definitely a staple in my office. Between burning-the-midnight-oil headaches, upset tummies from pressing deadlines, heartburn from fast-food dinners and those pesky craft blade and paper cuts, I am constantly refilling! This little kit could be used as a desk accessory or tucked in a purse or travel bag as well.
I wanted it to have the look and feel of an old-fashioned doctor's bag. I began by spray-painting the entire die cut with Krylon Glossy Black paint. This helps cover the edges as well as those crevices in the scallops and folds and gives you a good clean base. It also covers any marks or scratches on your mat board, so you can use up all those old scraps and discolored mats - think green!
I used a Cuttlebug plate to add the leather texture to the black cardstock, adhered it with 3M Super 77 adhesive, trimmed around everything with a craft knife and sanded the edges where they were a little rough from my trimming. I rubbed black Metallic Rub-ons over the surface for highlight. The arched shrine trinket and angel charm were highlighted with bronze Metallic Rub-ons. (The Metallic Rub-ons and arched shrine trinket are available from www.rockcandystudios.com.) I printed the Rx on my inkjet printer and aged the paper with Colorbox Burnt Sienna dye ink, then adhered it to the arched shrine trinket and both to the box with Beacon Quick Grip. A Velcro dot completes the project.
