It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Actually, it started looking like Christmas in September, at least in our local discount stores.

Today is the second round of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop, featuring Sizzix dies by Eileen Hull, Karen Burniston and Brenda Pinnick. Each Thursday for the next few weeks, you can start here at my blog and click on the Triple Play Blog Hop button on the left to see more than 50 projects using the same die each week.

Today's die is by Karen Burniston and is designed to be a pop-up box inside a card. This clever design folds flat and pops up when the card is opened, so your card will be remembered way past Christmas.

I chose to make my diecut into an ornament, rather than a pop-up. All designers were sent the diecut in black cardstock. I toyed with the idea of covering the black in a patterned paper, but then remembered the cool new Marvy Uchida snowflake punch in my punch stash. This punch gives you a large (approx. 1 1/2") snowflake as well as a tiny one (approx. 1/2").

Here's how to make it:

Supplies

Bigz XL Twist Cube die (Sizzix)
Black and white Cardstock
Vellum
Rockcandy Stickles (Ranger)
Snowflake Punch (Marvy Uchida)
Just Glitter Glitter Pen, Silver (Marvy Uchida)
Crystal Fire Bejeweler Heat Tool
Hot-Fix Crystals
Tear drop Swarovski crystal and assorted small crystals.
Silver eye pin and jump ring
Blue and Silver 3" wired ribbon
Beacon Zip Dry Adhesive
Be Creative Double-stick tape

Directions
1. Assemble Twist Cube according to instructions. Where instructions call for brad to be inserted in card, replace with eye pin that has been strung with small crystals. Add tear drop Swarovski crystal with silver jump ring.
2. Punch snowflakes from white cardstock and vellum. Save the large vellum snowflakes and the small white snowflakes for another project.
3. Highlight white snowflakes with Rockcandy Stickles and allow to dry.
4. Adhere large snowflakes with Zip Dry adhesive. For small vellum snowflakes, use only a small dot of glue in the center.
5. Draw swirls randomly with Just Glitter pen.
6. Apply hot-fix crystals to small snowflake centers (this covers the glue spot)and randomly on black box.
7. Add Just Glitter pen dots to fill in blank spots.
8. Tie wired ribbon onto ribbon loop on top of ornament.

This could be given as a gift and you could probably find a way to tuck another gift inside this one by adhering the last flaps with temporary adhesive.

Be sure to come back next Thursday for another exciting Triple Play Blog Hop project!
I know I will!

I received product from Marvy-Uchida and Beacon Adhesives.

Wow! Candice, once again you've wowed me with your design skills. The snowflakes are perfectly random and the little silver accenting is every bit as perfect. I love this color scheme! Thanks for using my die.

Black and white... love it! Is that some bling I see? Sweet!

Yes, Roxi, you caught me! I have always said that I'm not glitter girl, but I do love metallic finishes. I think I may be becoming a bling convert. Now if I could just rust up that bling....
Wonderful way to use the die cut! Love the snowflakes.

I love the way you filled out the top of the box and added the bead to the bottom- very sophisticated
